(This means that it's cool enough that I want to re-watch it, but not so cool that I walked out of the theater saying "screw dinner, I'm turning around and catching this again now. The Mebi + Ultra Brothers movie would have been in the latter category, for relative reference.)
People who watch Ultraman series for the fights are going to love it.
People who watch Ultra Galaxy for the universe building are going to like it.
Mebi fans are going to squee, 'cause he's cool. (Goes without saying, but I said it anyway.)
Most of the stuff in the trailers happens in the first 10 minutes or so.
I miss Sahashi's music. Personally I think he should have done the music rather than some foreign dude.
Zero didn't annoy me as much as I expected.
Oki fangasming is cracktastic.
This movie officially puts the Ultra Galaxy stuff into the future of the Showa universe.
There's some really cool visual stuffs.
There are also some pacing issues. Or maybe it's just that I don't like the pacing on a lot of action films. (Which I know to be true, so...)
I love Japan. People sit still through the credits. All the credits. They don't move until the lights go on. Much appreciated, 'cause my kanji reading skills are not up to uber speed-read and I wanted to catch who did what.
As an aside, anyone have any idea what this is? Or, rather, I know it's a Mebius-related CD single entitled "Voyager", but I don't have a clue where it's from. Is it the end song for the new OVAs or something else?
For my reference when I get home, the Amazon page for the new Mebi novel is here. Must order when I get home, since they're dorks and not putting it out until four days after I leave.
