Random Research: Japanese Graduations
Doing research for a story I'm batting around. Knowing Japanese society as I do, I expected graduation ceremonies to be formal, formulaic, and strictly regulated. I didn't expect descriptions to be unintentionally hilarious. For my (and possibly anyone else's?) entertainment, I post links:

Yes, I expect that they really do measure everything as described

Cool. I wish I could've graduated from a Japanese high school. *sighs wistfully* Oh, wait, I take it back. At this point in my life, I don't really care. But still, it would've been nice, and yes, probably would've made it more memorable. Must just be the education-envy of those who don't get such opportunities. Military schools here must be at least somewhat anal, right? Not sure. Maybe less so. Guess it's amusing seeing how serious it is but also makes me laugh/cry about what a joke graduating is here. Even Sulu's parents said it was just a piece of paper, but they wanted that piece of paper.

I don't know whether I want to recoil in horror at the thought of all that work, or laugh and wish I was able to participate in something so hilariously serious.
