I've been a bad geek lately. Lack of funds, a series of equipment failures and too long in an environment that espoused the philosophy that Windows '95 is a good OS to use, since at least we aren't going to find any new bugs have taken their toll. My geek toys are mostly old. I've had a bunch of weird failures. And I just haven't been able to get things to work the way they should.
But now I see signs that maybe I have appeased the Technology Gods, and maybe now I can be accepted back into the geekly fold.
I got the new Tivo hooked up with (almost) nary a problem. It went almost as smoothly as one could hope.
Then, feeling daring, I tried out the PCMCIA card reader I picked up so I can pull RAW photos off my camera. Plug the memory card into the PCMCIA card, put the card into the computer, and voila! It all just worked. Ahhhh, that's more like it.
Feeling daring, today I tired to get videos on my laptop to play on the TV. Hook this up, change this setting, and *poof*! Video on screen!
(roseembolism and racerxmachina probably would have been happier if I hadn't been so geekfully successful, since that meant that I could easily show them the live action IniD movie.)
Meanwhile, I've just about got all the painting and stuff done in the kitchen. It's looking really nice; I am much pleased.
Edit: That's what I get for rejoicing in things going right... Now my shower drain appears to be clogged. *sigh*
