Then come November we turned on the heater. I was curious how much the heating bills would be at the new place, and so I went looking in December for the bill.
I found no bill.
I figured that maybe they weren't sending me bills, since it was going to the credit card. So I scoured my next credit card statement for the PG&E charge.
I found no charge.
Now that all struck me as odd. The gas is still working, and yet I appear not to be paying anything for it. This is strange and unnatural. It's also a good sign that the gas is probably going to stop functioning -- quite possibly soon -- and I will be stuck with a cold shower in the morning. Brr.
Fearing this possibility, I started checking into things. As far as I can tell, my billing address is listed wrong. I've tried contacting a real person, but they aren't answering the phone. You have to use their callback system. Well, that system won't let me put in a phone number with an extention. My home phone doesn't have an extention -- but I'm not at that number. I'm at work. Which has an extention. So far, not useful.
(I could use my cell phone, but I'm over my daytime minutes for the month, and I need to save the expense of talking during the day for job hunting calls, since, well, I really need a new job. If for no other reason than to pay all the late fees on all the services that I keep not paying on time because the bills keep getting directed to an address I don't live at.)
I did e-mail PG&E, and actually *gasp* got a response. Using that, I've tried paying my bill. I have had, shall we say, absolutely no success.
Me again. Sorry to keep being a frothy ball of unhappy customer hate here, but I am getting a LOT frustrated with being continually roadblocked by your systems while trying to do my responsibility to get my bill paid. (That would be the bill that hasn't been getting paid because PG&E screwed up changing my billing address back in AUGUST and so I haven't been receiving my bills. If I could get a copy of the bills that have been being mis-directed, I would also appreciate it greatly.)
I've tried the using account number listed below to pay through the bill payment system which can be contacted at 1-800-891-8626. The system says that account number is invalid. Would it be possible for me to receive an account number that IS valid for my account so that I can pay the bill, please. Alternately, are there any other payment options that I can use to get this bill paid? I would go into a payment center (since I FINALLY located the link on the web page -- please note that itsy-bitsy fonts using a light color on a white background on an obscure page IS NOT VERY HELPFUL), but unfortunately they are going to ask for my account number. Which is apparently invalid. I would give them the one off of my bill, except that the bills are all sitting at a place that I DO NOT LIVE AT ANY MORE. (Which -- remember this point -- I told you guys about BACK IN AUGUST.)
Please. Help. I'm begging you. And do not make me go through the evil voice recognition system. The system does not recognize my voice when I'm speaking in normal tones, so I have to shout. And my coworkers are starting to worry that I am sitting in my cube randomly shouting "YES!" "NO!" "BILLING!" and "FOR THE LOVE OF SANITY, LET ME TALK TO A LIVE PERSON!!"
And while I'm passing information on, it would be really, REALLY helpful if your callback system would allow inputing phone numbers with extensions. See, I could give my home phone number, but I am not at home. I won't be at home for another five hours. (Much though I wish I were at home right now. As you yourself are probably wishing right now too.) I see no point in putting down a callback number that I won't be at. Unfortunately, the system won't let me put down a callback number that I AM at. And so I am stuck, sending strange and frustrated e-mails. I hope they are at least a little entertaining -- if only for how pathetic I sound in them!
Help me, Obi-Customer-Service-Kenobi, you're my only hope!
So... What does everyone think -- should I send it?
