Laptop...
Friend installed software that is incompatible with Windows XP, which happens to cause the computer to restart rather than shut down. Wasn't that sweet?

For anyone who is interested, don't install Roxio's CD burning software on an XP system. Microsoft says that they are incompatible.

(Now can someone explain to me why my friend was installing CD burning software to try and get the DVD burner to burn??)

HAHAHAH!!!!!! That's the program that NASA has on all their computers.

Ah, is that what happened. Will avoid. And I'm not one to question the ways of strange computer people.

that didn't happen to me, but I did learn that roxio doesn't have drivers for my dvd drive. so, avoid installing roxio on vaio computers.

Well, considering that I will never buy another Vaio again after the one I had died twice within as many years due to faulty hardware. (Sony, of course, won't do anything about it even though it's a known problem on their end -- aren't they sweet?)

But then, that's just me.

And the next time my friend goes near my computer, I'm pulling out my sword. *eg*

What are friends for if not to install dodgy programs on your computer?

At least your friend didn't decide to do you the favor of installing a new internet connection, thereby denying you all internet access. I still can't figure out what my brother did wrong.

Well, at least he didn't eat something dodgy on my computer...

Microsoft helped on the denying me internet access, by trying to "help" with making access easier. It did, of course, make access a good deal harder. In my copious spare time I need to fix that, too. *irritation*

I guess I'm just having a bad computer week, huh? :P
