Nifty New Shoes
Cars have it so easy. If I get a new pair of shoes I get to spend days limping around in pain while I break them in. My car gets a new set of tyres, and immediately everything feels much, much better.

As I've posted before, I realized last week that new tyres were in my immediate future, since the front tyres were pretty much done for. On Sunday I realized that one of the back tyres had aquired a slow leak over the previous week. Closer examination found a screw in it. This left one tyre in remotely good shape. It must be fate decreeing that it's time for the Azenis I've been drooling over.

So now my car has new shoes. She is happy. I am very happy. For the past several months I have been noticing a vibration in the front end while braking. I figured it meant that the rotors were warped. But driving back from the tyre place I noticed that the vibration is gone. Hmm, now that was an unexpected side effect.

I can't wait for the next autocross. It's a pity that the one next weekend has been cancelled. *sniff*

It's amazing what a difference new tires can make- I actually thought I needed a new axle until I got the front tires replaced. All that shimmeying that had been bothering me just vanished.

Am happy for your car. :) I suspect mines needs new tires too. My bro was commenting on the tread when he was back, but I figured I'd just wait until it came up in the maintenance schedule (which might be soon since the light is flashing when I start the car).

So you went with the Azenis after all? ^_~

Yup! ^_^ I had to go with wider tires (205 vs. 195). It'll make my gas milage go down, but I'll live with that. And besides, I get much niftier tires for cornering, and that's what it's all about anyway!!

(Actually, it may not even do much of that, since the sidewalls are lower, so I think the overall diameter is a little different. It's hard to say. We'll see.)
