Fate...  
After 24 days with no high-speed Internet access (and no end in sight), I finally decided that throwing money at the problem is a more acceptible solution that doing the daily call-in to Earthlink. (Yes, I know all the reasonable reasons why that's not the best option; this has progressed far beyond a reasonable situation. So, fine, throwing money at installs and paying higher rates for service is better than wasting my time on support calls and still getting no service. It's a harsh world, and sometimes life sucks.) So, we're signed up to get Comcast. Someone will be by tomorrow to drop off all the equipment. Yay, next-day service.

No more kick-the-tech-support? No more scathing smarmy comments worth of Jack? Whatever will you do with your time now?

Um, if you don't mind my asking... what did they give you for an install cost? And what are they charging you per month? You should have been able to get a deal of ...*checks current promotion*... $26.95/month for the first 4 months, and ... hm. The webpage refuses to give any price info on basic installation, as they really push premium. The promotion for premium install is $50 (as opposed to their regular $100), so I would think you should get the basic install for free. But you really, really don't need the premium install... that's for people who don't know a CD-ROM from a cup-holder or that you're suppose to plug the modem into the computer. ^^;;

At any rate, I'm glad you'll be online at home again sometime soon, though I wish your original service had worked out, and with less hassle.

(I mention this because I've found them to be rather... determined, shall we say, in pushing things that you don't need - to the point that I've even had sales people who didn't at first want to admit that there was a more basic service which would cost less money.)
