DSLAM Defined

Mainly for seshat, since I anticipate that the DSL will still be out when she gets back, and I will probably be bugging her for ideas on how to beat up Earthlink once she gets back and recovers from the jetlag.

The problem is with the DSLAM. Earthlink tech support provided the following definition for DSLAM:

Short for Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer, a mechanism at a phone company's central location that links many customer DSL connections to a single high-speed line.

Anyone have any idea how long it's supposed to take to get these things rerouted? Somehow I suspect that over 400 hours might seem a little long...
