My Widdle Bwain

My Little Daifuku

I have an itty-bitty, pink mini daifuku. It's got a gelatinous, translucent outer layer that only partially obscures the white marshmellow layer with periodic dark splotches of bean paste spattered here an there inside. I've never seen a foodstuff look quite so much like a tentacle-less jellyfish.

It's so soft and malleable that I squish it around for a while. As I squish it, the dark splotches of bean paste shift and move, sometimes increasing, sometimes disappearing for a time. They look like splotches of dried blood. It makes it seem like my de-tentacled jellyfish is slowly dying of internal bleeding. But it's so soft and malleable that it's hard to stop squishing it, even though it is somewhat disturbing to watch. Sooner or later, I will get tired of this game, and then I will just eat it, playing around with it's soft, springy form in my mouth before allowing it to slither down my throat. Mmm.
