1. What's your favorite cheese?
A nice smoked Gouda. It reminds me of watching the Rose Parade New Years morning as a kid.
2. How long do you hold onto odd socks before giving up on finding their mate?
Forever. I'm a horrible packrat.
3. Who was your favorite musical artist when you were 15? Yes, you can only pick one!
Do I have to admit it? Probably Duran Duran.
4. What shape are your fingernails in right now?
A bit too long. I need to trim them back down to nothing again, since they are bothering me.
5. Two scoops: of what?
Two scoops is way too much for me any more. Right now some EVIL friends have gotten me addicted to Coldstone.
6. What's your earliest memory?
Tipping over a coffee can filled with water while my mother was watering the garden. She said I did it on purpose, but I thought she said "purple". That being my favorite color at the time, I thought it was cool, and kept tipping over the can whenever Mom refilled it. I think I was around three-ish.
7. When does your pet look funniest?
I haven't had a pet for years. My large, fuzzy spider is awfully cute, though! :)
8. What do you collect?
Anime cels, maps/atlases of Japan, shitajiki, random tidbits of weird information.
9. What's better than sex?
Accomplishing something I worked hard on, knowning it's a job well-done. (The happy lasts longer.) Taking a corner at speed exactly right/a good run up a mountain at night, with no worries.
10. What things are you brand-loyal to?
More and more as time goes by. Grocery stores seem to be a particular brand loyalty for some weird reason.
11. Favorite Dr. Seuss book?
It's been long enough the only one I remember is Green Eggs and Ham. I think my favorite was the One (something) Two (something) Red (something) Blue (something) -- though I can't remember the proper title any more!
12. Best meal you've had lately?
Lots and lots of Chinese food after the seminar over the 4th of July weekend. Mmm, water chestnuts!
13. Peanut Butter and ________?
14. Who's your favorite poet?
I don't read much poetry, so I don't really have a favorite.
15. Where are you going on vacation this year?
Japan, Japan, Japan. Been there already, going back in November. (Though that will be a quasi-working trip, filled with dojo stuff.)
16. If you could change careers tomorrow with no strings
In complete fantasy land: Programmer/analyst for Inmarsat/WRC.com. (I lust after their data!)
In reality land: Lead Programmer on some new and exciting technology. I'm pretty open to what is new and exciting, what's important to me is the challenge of the work I'm doing, and the team I'm working with. Also, maybe programmer/database manager for one of the movie special effects companies. (Though I think I would come to despise the hours those people keep.)
17. Whaddya drive?
'99 Acura Integra GS-R.
18. What's your poison?
19. The color of the carpet on your floor?
Uh, it's a stone blue. I didn't pick it, it's just work carpeting.
20. What's on your walls?
Two calendars, one of Japanese gardens, one of prints by Hiroshige; a stylized map of Tokyo; a pencilboard from YYH; season schedules for F1 and WRC; assorted work junk; a couple of Far Side cartoons.
